iPhone Timeline

February 28th, 2010

Did you know the first public signs of the iPhone were way back in 1999, when Apple registered iPhone.org. Silver from iPhoneGold has put together a great timeline showing the history of the legendary iPhone, including domain registrations, trademarks. the famous 3% stock drop all the way up to the new iPhone 3G. Full sized iPhone timeline , thanks Silver for spending a worthwhile couple of days researching and putting this together.

No free Wi-Fi access for AT&T iPhone users after all

February 28th, 2010

Man, I’d be pissed if I were an AT&T iPhone user, and I’m pretty sure you would be too, after reading all about your mobile carrier offering free Wi-Fi access to the precious iPhone, only to retract that statement shortly thereafter. I don’t mean to place the importance of having free Wi-Fi access alongside more important things in life, but to have a company offer the hope of such convenience only to pull back its statement a while later can be quite a killjoy. Worse still is the fact that this is not the first time as it has happened before, which pretty much reminds me of Aesop’s Fables and the boy who cried wolf. While any publicity (good or otherwise) is supposed to be good, one such as this leaving no goodwill whatsoever will be viewed with disdain by the majority.

This gaffe comes about within less than half a year as different style of iPhone mistakenly published a notice on its Web site indicating that Apple iPhone users would get free access to the wireless operator’s more than 17,000 Wi-Fi hot spots around the country. This news has been reported since Friday morning with claims that the notice has been live before 8:30 a.m. PDT, but it is presumed that AT&T folk managed to catch wind of it shortly thereafter, removing it by 9.30am. I wonder whether it was a blog-reading employee who traced down this error?

iPhone 3G goes beyond $1,000 mark on eBay

February 28th, 2010

Just how hot do you think that the iPhone 3G has gotten? It seems that pent up demand for this smartphone has reflected in insane prices on eBay, with some of the bids already surpassing the magical $1,000 mark. Heck, even in the real world, demand for the iPhone 3G still results in lines forming outside of more notable Apple stores including the one in New York. So far, over 1 million units worldwide has already been sold, and demand remains extremely strong with both AT&T in the U.S. and O2 in the U.K. reporting iPhone 3G shortages. Currently, bids on eBay or the 16GB iPhone has passed the $1,0000 mark with even one bid ending at a ridiculous $2,325, while the smaller capacity 8GB iPhone 3G averages around $800 to $900. There’s a trick to all this – delayed gratification is the keyword, folks.

Cupertino Rumormill: iPhone Nano coming … but not likely

February 28th, 2010

Remember the good ole days when an iPod Nano was 4-8 GB? Then along came the iPhone and all of a sudden, 8GB was a full fledged model! So, the question arises that if, and when, an iPhone Nano gets made by Cupertino, how big would it really be? Well, we may not be able to answer that just yet, but if the rumor mill is correct (and it seldom is), an iPhone Nano may be just around the corner.

Drive size aside, the rumor has some pretty funky specs attached to it … first, this smaller version of the iPhone would have relatively the same size multi-touch screen, but also a a touch wheel on the back (red flag number one), and users would have a dialing interface on the back of the phone as well (red flag number 2). The rumor also speculates that the sale price for Nano Phone would be just under a hundred dollars U.S. – this could be the only accurate piece of information coming out of it. But still, with the $199 version of the current 3G iPhone selling out all over the planet, it is highly unlikely that an iPhone Nano will hit the Apple Store shelves any time soon, much less by Christmas.

MP3 and Media Players Is Wholesale On Our Company

February 26th, 2010

Apple is on a roll today with a brand new Cool Gadgets to tempt your wallets even in these harsh economic times. This stunning Sunglass MP3 Player backlit widescreen display comes with an integrated iSight video camera, microphone and speakers – and Apple engineers and designers managed to cram all of the above into an elegant, thin aluminum and glass enclosure. Nice to see Apple continue to place product design a class above the rest, even if that means the ordinary consumer has to fork out much more money. Targeting the newly released MacBook family, this Apple LED Cinema Display comes with a built-in MagSafe charger, three USB 2.0 ports and the new Mini DisplayPort that makes it a snap for MacBook users to hook up in an instant, powering not only their notebooks but favorite peripherals as well.

This 24″ glossy, widescreen display as a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, making it suitable for you to view all your videos in full High Definition. Thanks to LED backlit technology, you will be able to enjoy instant full screen brightness without having to cough up a bundle at the end of the month for your power bill. Power efficiency is definitely a positive point here, compared to older displays that depend on LCD technology. The LED Cinema Display is suspended by an aluminum stand with an adjustable hinge for almost effortless tilting. Thanks to the integrated iSight video camera, microphone and speakers, one is able to kick off video conferencing via iChat in an instant. I also like the idea of the built-in universal MagSafe charger that makes it much more convenient for users to leave their notebook’s MagSafe power adapter in the travel bag.

It will communicate with your Mac via 2.4GHz wireless technology and comes with an impressive 3-year battery life – the longest of all from Logitech so far.

SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise USB flash drive

February 26th, 2010

SanDisk is no stranger when it comes to USB flash drives, and this time round the company has rolled out yet another edition that boasts something its previous iterations seriously lacked – support for Apple’s Mac OS X-powered computers. This time round, SanDisk’s latest release, the SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise offers a more effective protect information on company-issued secure Flash Memory Drives in Macintosh environments. More on the SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise right after the jump if you’re interested to know more.

With Apple’s Mac OS X slowly and steadily eating into Windows’ market share (haven’t you heard? The latest news reports showed that for the first time in many years, the Windows operating system (Windows XP and Vista) failed to conquer more than 90% of the operating system market worldwide, with Apple’s Mac OS X doing extremely well. After all, isn’t one man’s gain another man’s loss? SanDisk is not going to miss out on this potential uphill ride (in terms of profits and not difficulty) by releasing its SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise USB flash drive that was specially designed to meet the unique USB security, compliance and manageability needs of today’s enterprises by imposing a hardware-based USB encryption solution that enables mandatory access control on all files as protection against theft or loss of the drive. Not only is it compatible with Apple computers, it also works just fine with Microsoft Windows environments, making it an effective solution when it comes to protecting information on company-issued secure USB flash drives in organizations.

Apple Laptop And Keyboard triBook Concept

February 26th, 2010

It appears that our friends from mini loptop have leaked some drool-worthy information on the net with their latest concept, the triBook.

Yes, I am also quite impressed at a screen that can fold out into three. These side screens are perfectly sandwiched in between the main display and the keyboard. Every time a user wants to use the triBook, he or she will unfold it like opening a cardboard box. A user also has the option of combining all three screens for a landscape display of about 21 inches.

An unfolded triBook measures at 6.75 x 10 inches, and it is about 1 inch thick. That may not be good enough to fit into a manila envelope like the MacBook Air, but I am willing to sacrifice the skinniness for that fold-out feature.

Not much is known about the triBook’s other features, other than it comes with a “kick-ass” hard drive (that is a direct quote from my source). It also has many I/O connectors, an 8x SuperDrive, plus a MacBook Pro-caliber CPU.

Right now, the triBook is just concept, but I could easily see it becoming the standard for laptops. After all, who wouldn’t want more real estate for their laptop screen? That alone is enough to convert me to a Mac user, and I’m sure a lot of people will also be Apple converts if this ever gets mass-marketed.
